SERVICE

Ask for materials from another library using interlibrary loan

If we don't have it at the San Francisco Law Library, we may be able to borrow it from somewhere else.

What to know

Try interlibrary loan when you:

  • Have a specific title in mind
  • Can't find it in our collection

You can use this service if you:

What to do

If we don’t have the materials you’re looking for, we might be able to borrow it for you from another library using interlibrary loan.

Tell us what you're looking for

We'll look for the item. If we're able to borrow it from another library, we'll place a request for you.

What happens next?

We'll let you know when an item you requested is available.

The item's due date and other rules are set by the library where it came from.

If you're a law firm of any size or a corporate legal department, you can get specialized reference support. Visit our membership programs.

Optional: Search other catalogs

We'll search other libraries for the item when you make your request. But if you'd like to see where an item might be located before you ask, you can check these catalogs.

WorldCat

  • WorldCat.org
  • A combined catalog of thousands of libraries across the United States and the world. WorldCat will show you when an item is available at a library nearby.
