Anyone can use resources inside the library
- All are welcome to visit the library and use its materials.
- You can also access some databases remotely for free.
Only some people can borrow items
- Attorneys in San Francisco and some others can check out materials.
- Learn more about who can get a library card.
What to do
Search the catalog
Find out if an item is available by searching by subject, title, keyword, or author.
Your page results will tell you whether an item is available and:
- In the stacks
On a shelf in the library with a call number. - At the circulation desk
View or borrow from the information desk. - In storage
Not in circulation. No loans available. - Retrievable
Ask a librarian for access to this item during your visit. - An electronic resource
Follow link to a library database. Some may require onsite access.
Have a library card and need an item that's already checked out? Contact us to put it on hold: 415-554-1772
