Find resources to get free or low-cost legal help
The library and the City have resources to help you with your legal issue.
Get free help at our legal aid clinic
Every month, we host an event where you can get help with your legal issue.
This Monthly Consumer Rights Clinic can help if you are:
- Being harassed by debt collectors
- Struggling with having your wages withheld (such as for child support payments)
- Having an issue with your credit that's keeping you from getting stable housing or other needs
- Being targeted by scammers and
- Have other legal needs.
The clinic is offered by Bay Area Legal Aid and held at the library. It's usually on the fourth Thursday of every month.
If you can't find the next Consumer Rights Clinic in our events listing, it might be because of a holiday closure. To find out about the next clinic, call Bay Area Legal Aid at 415-982-1300.
