  • You can also assign others to check out materials on your behalf.

  • Anyone can visit the library to use and copy materials.

What to do

1. Find out if you're eligible for a library card

You can borrow materials from the San Francisco Law Library if you are a:

  • State Bar of California member
    Who is in good standing and has an office or lives in San Francisco
  • Judge of a court 
    In San Francisco
  • Member of a municipal, state, or federal agency
    In San Francisco

2. Complete an application

Attorneys: Include a copy of your photo ID, or another document that shows you live or work in San Francisco.

3. Email completed application to:
