Maggie Weiland

Maggie Weiland is Executive Director of the Entertainment Commission, which works to support and regulate entertainment and nightlife in the City and County of San Francisco. Mayor Breed appointed Weiland in August 2018. Weiland joined the Commission staff in spring 2015, serving first as Deputy Director, followed by Acting Director upon the retirement of the previous Director. Weiland is a Bay Area native, avid show-goer, and singer who is passionate about supporting musicians, artists, event producers, and small businesses in San Francisco. 

Weiland’s previous work in the public sector began in 2010 when she joined then Mayor Newsom’s administration.  Additionally, she held roles in Mayor Lee’s administration, the Department of Environment’s Outreach Team, and the Film Commission.  Weiland also spent a year working as the San Francisco lead for the Harvey Milk Foundation, which serves a global community in the fight for equality for the LGBTQ community. 

Weiland earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Masters in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco.
