Get a grant for vandalism-related costs for your small business storefront.

This grant provides up to $2,000 for vandalism-related costs. Examples of damages include broken windows, broken doors, broken locks, etching on windows, graffiti, and more.

1. Check if your business is eligible

Your business must:

  • Have a storefront
  • Have less than $8M in gross revenue in 2022
  • No formula retail except franchises with less than $8M in gross revenue
  • Have been damaged on or after January 1st, 2023
  • Provide proof of damage

2. Gather information about your business

You must complete the application in its entirety, there is no option to save your application.

We will ask you for information on the following (no documentation required):

  • Your Business Account Number (BAN). If you don't know it, you can look it up.
  • Your 2022 gross revenue
  • Number of full and part-time employees
  • Primary business owner’s household income

3. Complete and sign a W9

We need a completed and signed W9 to process your grant application.

You will be required to upload a W9 when you apply.

4. Gather proof of damage

The form will ask you to upload documents showing proof of damage (some documentation required):

Acceptable proof of damage for the $1,000 grant:

Submit any two of the following:

  • Receipts for repairs of damage of any amount
  • Police Report Number or 311 Service Request Number
  • Photo of damaged storefront

Acceptable proof of damage for the $2,000 grant:

Submit the following:

  • Receipts for repairs of damage of $2,000 or more AND

At least 1 of the following:

  • Police Report Number or 311 Service Request Number
  • Photo of damaged storefront


If you do not have a police report number, file a police report now (for any type of property damage except graffiti). The report number will be 9 digits and must come from the San Francisco Police Department.

You can file a 311 Service request for damage (for graffiti damage only). The service request number will be 12 digits. For other property damage, you should file a police report.

5. Apply

We will ask you questions about the business owner and the business.

You will upload your proof of damage and W9 and agree to our legal terms.

The entire application will take about 15 minutes if you have all the required information.

Supervisorial District 5 and Supervisorial District 7 Small Businesses $3,000 and $4,000 award

If your business is located in Supervisorial District 5 or Supervisorial District 7  you may be eligible for additional Vandalism Relief Funding allocated by your District Supervisor. Businesses in these districts may qualify for up to $4,000 based upon location of the business and receipts submitted. If you are located in Districts 5 or 7 and have incurred costs above $3,000 or $4,000 for repairs of damage, please submit the following:

More about the Storefront Vandalism Relief Grant

The Storefront Vandalism Relief Grant provides up to $2,000 in financial relief for the restoration of small businesses impacted by deliberate actions that result in the destruction or damages of small business storefronts. This program will offer amounts of either $1,000 or $2,000 depending on the total cost incurred to repair physical damages (not including loss of stolen goods or property) and is available on a first-come-first-serve basis, based on fund availability. Businesses in Supervisorial Districts 5 and 7 may be eligible for additional funding, see below for more information. 

In the case of multiple incidents, a maximum of two claims will be accepted within a one-year period. The periods are between January 1, 2023 – December 31, 2023 and January 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024. Incidents must have occurred on different dates.

Submission of an application does not guarantee funding. Funding will be determined in the City’s sole discretion.
