Publishing DPH Data to the Public
As the Health Authority for the City and County of San Francisco, DPH publishes data on health metrics, outcomes, and public health measures to the public. Publishing that data provides an important service for the public. Any data that is published must be done in consideration of protecting against disclosing any information that may be identifiable to individuals.
OCPA and Metrics, Analytics and Data Integration (MADI) have developed Public Data Sharing Guidelines to aid DPH staff when they want to share data with the general public.
The Guidelines provide the parameters so that public reporting of de-identified information on health outcomes and delivery of services can occur while safeguarding patient/client/resident rights regarding PHI.
Data sharing with contracted partners, research entities and other CCSF departments are not subject to these guidelines, and our outlined by contracted MOU’s developed with those entities.
