Respond to a notice to subscribe for mandatory refuse collection service
Building owners need to set up trash, recycling, and compost services for their occupied properties.

If you own a commercial or residential building that is occupied, you must:
- Set up refuse collection service
- Maintain service
- Pay for your service

Recology provides refuse service
You must get your trash, recycling, and compost picked up regularly by a licensed collector with route permit. Current license collectors are Recology Sunset Scavenger and Recology Golden Gate.

Call Recology to set up refuse collection service for an occupied property.
If your property is unoccupied, call the investigator on the notice to let them know. If you do not contact the investigator within 15 days, we will have Recology set up the service.

If you need to change your mailing address
The property owner must keep your mailing address updated. If you need to change your mailing address for all property owner notices, contact the San Francisco Assessor-Recorder. If you need to update the mailing address for only your garbage bills, call Recology at 415-330-1300.
If you need other help with garbage
Contact Recology at 415-330-1300 if:
- You need to pay your garbage bill
- You did not get your garbage bill
- They missed garbage pick-up
- You have missing or damaged garbage bins
- You have bulky items that you need picked up from your residential property
Contact San Francisco Environment at 415-355-3700 if:
- There are no blue and green garbage bins at a business or residential building
- There is garbage contamination in the blue or green garbage bin
- You're not sure what to put in the blue and/or green garbage bins
