File a labor law complaint

If you think your employer isn’t following San Francisco labor laws, we can help.

What to know

We protect our workers

  • It does not matter where you were born or if you have papers to work
  • It does not matter if you were paid in cash
  • We will never ask you about your immigration status

If we talk, our conversation will be private. We won’t take any action until you say it’s okay.

What to do

Are you having a problem with your employer at work? Tell us about it.

We help workers who are:

  • Not getting paid the right amount
  • Not getting benefits they deserve, such as time off or sick days
  • Being treated unfairly in other ways

Don’t hesitate to get in touch. You can talk about your situation. We can help you understand if your employer is breaking any laws.

Since 2010, we have helped workers recover over $100 million in wages and penalties.

Learn about our labor laws

We have 2 types of labor laws in San Francisco:

  • Citywide labor laws
These laws apply to all workers in the city.
  • Labor laws for City contractors
Some employers have contracts or leases with the City. They’re called City contractors. If you work for a City contractor, you’re protected by laws that are different from citywide laws.
