YBI/TI Stewardship Program

Community stewardship takes a variety of forms on the islands.  The Yerba Buena Island/Treasure Island Stewardship Program strives to restore Yerba Buena Island’s native biodiversity and engage residents and the diverse Bay Area community to connect to nature on both islands and to participate in island ecological stewardship.

Saturday, November 23, 2024 - YBI Winter Birding Walk - 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon

Sponsored by TIDA, SF Environment and the Golden Gate Bird Alliance.  Led by local naturalist Josiah Clark.  Walk starts at 9:00 AM at the Treasure Island Administration Building parking lot.

December 2024 - Habitat Planting Day - Date TBD

A work party installing local native plants, removing invasive species and restoring natural habitat.  Sponsored by TIDA and San Francisco Environment.

Spring 2025 - 8th Annual Yerba Buena Island Bioblitz - Date TBD

Join TIDA, San Francisco Environment and the California Academy of Sciences for the 8th annual Yerba Buena Island Bioblitz in the spring of 2025.

Habitat Management Plan

TIDA is developing a long-term framework for restoration, enhancement and protection of Yerba Buena Island's precious natural areas.  The Yerba Buena Island Habitat Management Plan (YBI HMP) is a critical element of these efforts.

Commitment to biodiversity

At it's May 8, 2019 meeting the TIDA Board of Directors approved TIDA Board Resolution 19-13-05/08 affirming TIDA's commitment to the Citywide Biodiversity Vision adopted by the San Francisco Board of Supervisors in 2018.
