Headshot of Carson Chin

Carson Chin was born and raised in San Francisco. Having grown up in the Parkside neighborhood, the love of food and the outdoors became ingrained at a very young age. While attending Lowell High School, Carson got his first job as a summer intern for the Department of Parking and Traffic (DPT) building computers and providing desktop support.

Since then, Carson has had over 20 years of experience working for the City departments such as the San Francisco Police Department (SFPD), San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency (SFMTA), DPT, and 311. Carson started with 311 as a Business Analyst in February 2008. He was one of the early members of the content team and eventually became the 311 department liaison to Public Works, Public Utilities Commission, and SFMTA. In 2017, he was promoted to the role of IT Project Manager and led some notable projects such as the self-service portal, shelter waitlist, and the deployment of the SF311 mobile app. He obtained his bachelor's degree from U.C. Berkeley and is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

In 2022, he was promoted to Deputy Director, where he oversees the technology team, budgeting, content, the SF311 mobile app, procurement, and information security.

In his free time, Carson and his family love to travel. They are always planning for their next trip or adventure. When not traveling, they can be found trying out new restaurants or the latest boba shops.
