WISF Board MemberDoug Whitney is a value creation and business-focused executive human resource professional specializing in transforming human performance into world-class organizational performance. Mr. Whitney currently holds the position of Vice President of Human Resources with Sutter Health supporting the Greater San Francisco Market.
Mr. Whitney possesses over 20 years of senior-level human resources and operations experience. While with CVS/Health and Kaiser Permanente, Doug was credited for developing and leading unique tailored initiatives surrounding cross-pollination succession planning, employee retention, labor relations, and learning & development improving patient care satisfaction results helping people on the path to better health.
During his operational career with Walmart, Inc., Mr. Whitney attended Purdue University as a non-traditional student earning a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Leadership & Supervision and receiving Highest Distinction honors as part of the top 1% of his graduating class. While attending Purdue University, Doug was an Adjunct Professor leading an undergraduate class in human resource law & labor relations. As a lifelong learner, Doug continued his educational track achieving a Master’s degree in Human Resource Development from Indiana State University. Doug holds a Senior Certified Professional (SCP) designation from SHRM.
Doug grew up in the Midwest and was raised in a healthcare environment his mother was a nurse and his father was a Corpsman in the Navy.
