Jose Lopez

Jose L. Lopez is the General Counsel of Zeplin, Inc., a technology company producing collaboration tools for designers and developers.  He was previously Head of Legal at Samsung Next, corporate counsel at Salesforce, and an associate at the law firms of Gunderson Dettmer in Redwood City and Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP in New York City. Jose graduated from the UC Berkeley School of Law, where he was Editor-in-Chief of the California Law Review.  Prior to law school, Jose taught in public schools as a New York City Teaching Fellow and earned a Master’s degree in Education from CUNY - Lehman College.  He received his B.A. in English from UC Berkeley. While an undergraduate student, Jose served as a commissioner on the City of Berkeley’s Housing Advisory Commission. Jose was born and raised in San Jose, California. He lives in San Francisco’s Bayview District with his wife, Sophia, who is a practicing pediatrician. They are the parents of young twins, Lucia and Jose. Mr. Lopez was appointed by Mayor London Breed on July 27, 2021 to fill the remainder of Commissioner Eduardo Santacana's term . His term will expire on July 1, 2024.
