Exceptions to the order of layoff
View requests and changes to layoff order for roles that require special skills, as approved by the Human Resources director.

When the SFMTA sees that a role needs special skills or qualifications not identified in the classification specification (like speaking a second language), it may ask its director to place a "special condition" on the position.
Archive reports (2019-2023) that document roles excepted from the standard layoff order for special skills.

Include the:
- Date of the posting
- Department in which the position belongs
- DHR Position Number
- Specific reason for your request
When Human Resources gets your request, they will forward it to the hiring department for further review.
Your message must be received no later than 30 days from the posting date.
If an issue or concern is not resolved after you connect with the hiring department, you can file an appeal through the Civil Service Commission.
