Who can use materials inside the library?
- Anyone can visit the library and use its resources in person.
Who can borrow materials?
- Only certain people can check out materials. This includes judges and attorneys in good standing in San Francisco. See who can get a library card.
What to do
Visit during our open hours
We welcome all people to visit the library and use our legal materials.
You can access legal databases on our public computers, browse books, print and copy materials on our self-service machines, and more.
Ask for a virtual or in-person tour to get more familiar with library spaces, services, and resources. Call to schedule at 415-554-1772.
Search for print materials
Use our catalog, browse the shelves, or ask a librarian to help you find print materials related to your legal need.
You can use and copy any material inside the library, even if you're not eligible to borrow items with a library card.
Ask for the code to a public computer
Stop by our information desk inside the library.
We'll give you a barcode you can use to get on one of our public computers.
You can only use the computers for a legal purpose, like conducting research or filling out court forms.
You can use the library computers for up to 2 hours per day.
Print, scan, or copy materials
We have self-service machines available for your use.
Ask a librarian
