Welcome Our First Inspector General
Welcome Terry Wiley, the first Inspector General to head the Office of the Inspector General. “I am very excited about the new challenge leading the Office of Inspector General and continuing my commitment to public service,” said Terry Wiley. "I bring 33 years of experience and look forward to addressing reforms and accountability with the San Francisco Sheriff’s Office.” Terry Wiley is the first Inspector General to head the Office of the Inspector General. With 33 years of experience, Wiley is excited to bring reforms and accountability to the San Francisco Sheriff's Office.

The Office of the Inspector General (OIG) was approved by voters in 2020 to provide independent oversight for the Sheriff's Office.
The OIG will take over the work started by the Department of Police Accountability (DPA) to investigate allegations of misconduct against the San Francisco Sheriff's Office and its employees.
