Apply for the Debt Reduction Program

If you're late on paying child support, find out if you're eligible for a program to lower your payments.

Qué saber

For parents who:

  • Are overdue in making child support payments 
  • Have a child who received public assistance or were in foster care at a time you did not pay

This program can:

  • Lower the amount you have to pay back to the state for programs that supported your children's care

¿Qué hacer?

1. Check whether you're eligible

You may be eligible if:

  • You have child support debt (arrears) from a time when your child or children were receiving public assistance (welfare or foster care)
  • You can't pay off the debt within 12 months, based on your current income and assets
