Pothole repairs

Pothole repair is an ongoing operation of Public Works' street and sewer repair program. Repairs include the patching of potholes, depressions, bumps, and other defects on city streets.

What to do

1. Fill out a form

Describe the street issue or pothole you want to report. 

We will need:

  • The location
  • Nature of request

Include a photo to assist with identification and response. 

2. Track your case

After you report, you will get a tracking number from 311. You can use this number, and your email address if provided, to track your case online or on the SF311 mobile app. 

Expected response time

  • Construction plate shifted: as soon as possible
  • Manhole cover off: as soon as possible
  • Utility excavation: as soon as possible
  • Pavement defect (pothole): 3 calendar days
