Varies. 4 hours for flooding on the street. Most other issues within 1 business day.

What to do

If a fire hydrant is damaged, gushing water, or leaking a lot, call 911 immediately.

1. Fill out a form

Describe the issue you want to report. For example, water pooling in the street, a strong sewage odor, or a fire hydrant that has constant dripping or seeping from the base.

We will need:

  • The location
  • The type of issue 

2. Track your case

After you report, you will get a tracking number from 311. You can use this number, and your email address if provided, to track your case online or on the SF311 mobile app
